Lateral displaced flap for root coverage. Ref.: 47
This video shows one of the periodontal plastic surgery techniques for the treatment of gum recession, performing a laterally displaced flap. First of all, incisions are designed and made to mobilize part of the gum from a donor area. Then the recipient area where the recession is located is prepared. Finally, the gum of the donor area is mobilized and repositioned by suturing it in a new position, thus covering the recession. This flap will settle and mature in this new position.
